From her very first job as a food demo girl at a local grocery store at the age of 15, Jonna knew she was meant to be in the hospitality industry. Always looking for holidays, and occasions to entertain friends and family, the decision to focus on hospitality management in college at UMass Ahmerst, while simultaneously working at restaurants, bars and country clubs, was easy. Upon graduating, Jonna joined the BR Guest team in New York in the early 2000’s opening restaurants such as Blue Fin Time Square, Dos Caminos, and Vento. She was able to gain service, training, management and overall operations experience. Although based in NYC, when the opportunity was presented to join the opening task force for national expansion with BR Guest, she headed to Vegas, Arizona, and Chicago to open the likes of Fiamma, Blue Water, and the James Hotel, gaining experience in hotel operations, as well as an understanding of both managing staff, and managing guest expectations in different markets.
In 2007, Jonna was approached by Chef Marc Murphy and the team behind Benchmarc restaurants, and was offered the role that brought her back to NYC - Opening General Manager of Landmarc at the Time Warner Center. Managing the high volume restaurant along with a successful events and delivery program, allowed her to fully understand the energy this business can have. Her role grew to oversee operations at all five of the benchmarc properties as well as launching an off premise events and catering team.
In 2011 she wanted to seek out the best opportunity to gain more specific event & sales experience and knowledge, and spent a year selling both Gansevoort properties in NYC. Gaining new client base, vendor contacts, and experience in larger production events, Jonna looked to leverage those skills in a growing restaurant and hospitality group.
As the Altamarea Group was gaining momentum, Jonna joined the team 5 years ago in the Events Director role with the goal of centralizing and growing the events business for the group across all brands. After opening, launching, streamlining and growing events programs across the group, Jonna has joined the Executive team as managing director overseeing all marketing, events, promotions and partnerships.
Today she stays very involved in the day to day of client events, works with the design team to support creative new branded materials, digital media and all promotions, and looks to foster new partnerships with charity, corporate, and other industry leaders to grow the Altamarea Group client base and overall awareness.
