Mona Carbona grew up living overseas due to her father’s job as an executive in the oil industry. She experienced many cuisines and cultures from around the world. Entertaining was a big part of this lifestyle, and her parents enjoyed hosting business dinners in their home. The focus of these parties was always good food and gracious hospitality. Helping prepare the meals, serve food and wine, and socializing with their guests was an important part of her upbringing.
Mona graduated from Boston University with a degree in Business Administration. From there, she worked at Exxon before getting her MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, where she graduated “with distinction.” After 15 years with Fidelity Investments in Boston, she left the firm, and her position as Vice President, Strategic Management in their Institutional company, to try something new- Spain.
Mediterranean life, tapas, paella and flamenco- this move allowed her to revisit the international stage that had drawn her since childhood. It brought her back to an environment of relaxed entertaining and taking pleasure in creating food that her guests were awed by.
Upon her return to the US, she decided to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. The combination of her business background and her genuine sense of sociability have been a perfect fit. Mona joined Altamarea Group in 2013 as Senior Manager at Due Mari, then was promoted to General Manager, and again promoted to Regional Manager for Altamarea's New Jersey operations.
